Abstract |

The present study is investigating the clothing needs of
the children in the age group 6-9 years, and the types clothes used by the child in addition to whether the families at
different income levels allocate a certain budget for
the children's clothing .
Collection of data for the questionnaire was done by the personal interview method on a random sample of school –age children of both sexes . final sample size amounted to 162 children.Collected data were later processed and statistically analyzed using cross tabulations, percentages , the chi squared test of significance and the contingency coefficient.
The findings are summarized as follows:
1- There was a significant relationship between the family income and the type of school ( public or private) at the 0,01 level of significance.
2- Higher educational level group among the sample took care of allocating a seasonal budget for child `s clothing .
3- There was a significant relationship between the mother's education and types of children's clothes such as club attire.
4- There was a significant relationship between the mother's age and whether suitability of the clothing and the Childs figure at the .01 level of significance . This would give the child more self confidence and an energetic feeling .
5- Most mothers of sample were inclined to choose cotton clothes for the children . Also there was a significant
Relationship between the mother's work and the clothes at the 0.05 level. |
